For this year’s Contact Photography Festival, we are using the full potential of our gallery space to show the work of three photographers, each with a distinct approach to the medium and its narrative potential.
In his first exhibition with Abbozzo Gallery, emerging artist Matthew Stephenson, will be exhibited in the Feature Gallery. Having lived in cities such as Toronto, Sydney, Hong Kong, and Vancouver, Stephenson’s photography captures the essence of urban life and architecture. With a distinct and keen eye for line, and patterned colour within architectures big and small, Stephenson invites us to contemplate the beauty of the seemingly mundane and anonymous buildings of upward sprawling metropolises. His work seamlessly integrates landscapes, people, and streetscapes, revealing the vibrancy and energy of city environments. Through his lens, Stephenson tells stories of human connections and the constant evolution of the urban landscape.
