About Crystal Liu
Crystal Liu is a Canadian born Chinese artist. Using materials such as ink, metallic pigments, custom-made marbleized paper, gouache and watercolour, she creates landscapes as metaphors for the intangible forces that drive human beings from within. Liu’s paintings are tied intimately with her emotional states. She derives narratives of intention and desire with teetering optimism through her portrayal of elements found in nature such as : flora, fauna, the water, the moon and the stars.The complexities of life are carefully infused into the landscapes of her work, alluding to truths from the artist’s own private life.
