Working out of his studio in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, Vitale creates layered abstract paintings that explore the relationship between beauty and decay, order and chaos. This new body of work continues his exploration of the unrefined human experience, where discarded moments—imperfections, mistakes, and overlooked details—are transformed into spaces of balance and quiet possibility. His intuitive process is guided by an interest in resilience: how even in decay, something new can take root and bloom.

Vitale’s compositions weave together organic shapes, plateaus, rich color palettes, and textured negative space. Using an array of mediums from acrylic, house paint, enamel, pencils, canvas scraps, and oil sticks, he builds his surfaces slowly, often over weeks. A single erased mark or subtle color shift can determine the resolution of a painting, reflecting the sensitivity and precision within his process. Each piece becomes a kind of archive—an attempt to make sense of the overwhelming noise of daily life.

His work has been exhibited across Taiwan, the West Coast, Santa Fe, and New York City, and is held in both public and private collections worldwide. The Garbage and the Flowers invites viewers into a space where contradictions are embraced and beauty is found in imperfection.
